10000N Solar Damper For Tracker

Product Description

U21A 10,000N Hydraulic Solar Damper for Solar Tracking Systems

10,000N Application · Up to 12,000N Restoring & Compressive Force · IP66

The TOMUU U21A is a hydraulic damper developed for photovoltaic solar tracking systems. It is suitable for 10,000N-class solar tracker applications, with maximum restoring and compressive force capability of up to 12,000N.

When the tracker encounters wind gusts or other external disturbances, the U21A helps slow down and dampen unwanted movement of the tracker structure, supporting more stable mechanical operation and helping protect the solar panels and tracker structure.

What Does a Solar Damper Do in a PV Tracking System?

Photovoltaic tracker structures operate outdoors and are continuously exposed to wind gusts and other external disturbances. These forces can cause sudden movement or repeated oscillation of the tracker structure.

A solar tracker damper helps slow down and dampen this unwanted movement. By controlling excessive structural motion, the damper supports more stable behavior of the tracker under changing wind conditions.

Unlike a linear actuator, which drives and positions the tracker, the U21A works as a passive damping component. It does not drive the tracking movement. Its role is to control unwanted motion caused by external disturbances.

This helps reduce excessive tracker movement and supports protection of both the solar panels and tracker structure.

10,000N Solar Tracker Damper Application

This U21A configuration is positioned for solar tracker projects requiring a 10,000N-class damper application. The current U21A platform provides maximum restoring and compressive force capability of up to 12,000N.

For an actual tracker project, damper selection should not be based on force alone. The required force should be evaluated together with the tracker structure, stroke, mounting position, installation dimensions and operating environment.

Restoring, Compressive & Lateral Force

The U21A provides a maximum 12,000N restoring force and a maximum 12,000N compressive force.

The maximum lateral force is 2,000N. For final product selection, restoring force, compressive force and lateral force should be evaluated together with the tracker geometry, mounting position and structural conditions.

Outdoor Protection for Solar Tracker Applications

Solar tracker dampers operate continuously in outdoor environments. The U21A provides IP66 protection and is specified for operation from -40°C to +65°C.

The U21A specification also includes an 800-hour salt spray test, supporting long-term outdoor photovoltaic tracker applications.

Dimensions & Installation

The standard U21A front-end and rear-end connections use Ø21.5mm mounting holes. Customized mounting-hole configurations can be evaluated according to project requirements.

Stroke, fully extended length and fully retracted length are configured according to the tracker structure and installation geometry rather than using one fixed dimension for every project.

When selecting the U21A configuration, the required stroke, mounting position and installation dimensions should be confirmed together.

Solar Tracker Project Applications

TOMUU actuator and damper solutions support photovoltaic solar tracking projects where reliable mechanical movement and structural stability are required for long-term outdoor operation.

TOMUU solar tracker project applications

In utility-scale solar tracker projects, linear actuators and dampers can perform different but complementary functions: the actuator drives and positions the tracker, while the damper helps control unwanted movement caused by wind disturbance.

TOMUU U20 Series actuators and U21 Series dampers have also been supplied together for utility-scale solar tracking applications.

Why TOMUU for Solar Tracker Dampers?

TOMUU solar tracking project experience
57GW+
Cumulative Solar Actuator Applications Worldwide
Since 2017
Solar Tracking Application Experience

TOMUU has been involved in solar tracking applications since 2017, with actuator solutions applied in more than 57GW of solar projects worldwide.

Through these projects, TOMUU has accumulated experience with tracker structures, drive systems, installation conditions and long-term outdoor operating environments.

Solar tracking reliability is not only about driving and positioning the structure. Under wind and other external disturbances, controlling unwanted movement and structural oscillation is also an important part of tracker mechanical stability.

Built on this accumulated solar tracking experience, TOMUU expanded its solar product range from drive actuators to complementary tracker components, including the U21 Series solar damper.

The actuator and damper perform different functions in the tracker system: the actuator drives and positions the structure, while the damper helps slow and control unwanted movement. Together, they address different mechanical requirements within photovoltaic tracking applications.

From Solar Actuators to Tracker Damper Solutions

Long-term participation in solar tracker projects has given TOMUU a broader understanding of how tracker components interact with the complete mechanical structure.

This experience supports the development and selection of solar damper products such as the U21A, where force capability must be considered together with stroke, installation dimensions, mounting position, tracker structure and project environment.

The U21A represents this extension of TOMUU's solar product line, providing a passive damping solution alongside the company's solar tracker actuator products.

Solar Manufacturing Capability

TOMUU supports solar tracking projects with manufacturing resources for actuator and damper products. Product configuration and production are evaluated according to the mechanical and installation requirements of different tracker projects.
