Pampas & Cristales 1.3GW Renewable Energy Portfolio (Chile)
2026-04-16
Project Overview
The Pampas and Cristales projects are part of a large-scale renewable energy portfolio developed in northern Chile, with a total installed capacity of approximately 1.325 GW. The projects integrate solar photovoltaic (PV), wind power, and battery energy storage systems (BESS) to enhance grid stability and accelerate the regional energy transition.
TOMUU participated in this landmark project by supplying electric linear actuators and damping solutions for heliostat and tracking system applications through our long-term partner GameChange Solar.
Project Scope
The portfolio consists of two major developments:
- Pampas Project
229 MW solar PV
128 MW wind power
171 MW / 855 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS)
- Cristales Project
288 MW solar PV
340 MW battery energy storage system (BESS)
Together, the projects represent one of the largest hybrid renewable energy developments in the region.
TOMUU Contribution
As a critical component supplier to the tracking system infrastructure, TOMUU provided:
- High-performance electric linear actuators for solar tracking applications
- Precision-engineered damping solutions to ensure structural stability and operational reliability
- Components designed for long-term outdoor operation under high load and variable environmental conditions
Our solutions were integrated into the tracking systems supplied by GameChange Solar, supporting precise motion control and stable operation of large-scale solar installations.
Technical Challenges
The project required equipment capable of operating under:
- Large-scale distributed solar field conditions
- High wind load and mechanical stress environments
- Long-term continuous outdoor operation
- High reliability requirements for utility-scale energy assets
These conditions placed strict demands on actuator precision, durability, and maintenance-free performance.
Our Solution
TOMUU electric linear actuators and damping systems are engineered to meet the requirements of utility-scale renewable energy projects, offering:
- High precision motion control for tracking systems
- Robust mechanical design for harsh outdoor environments
- Long service life with minimal maintenance requirements
- Stable performance under continuous operation
These capabilities ensure reliable operation of solar tracking structures within hybrid renewable energy systems.
Project Significance
The Pampas & Cristales portfolio represents a new generation of hybrid renewable energy infrastructure combining solar, wind, and energy storage technologies. The integration of these systems improves energy dispatchability and enhances grid flexibility.
TOMUU’s participation in this project further demonstrates our capability to support large-scale international renewable energy developments with reliable motion control solutions.
Looking Forward
As renewable energy systems continue to evolve toward hybrid and storage-integrated architectures, TOMUU remains committed to delivering high-performance linear actuation solutions for global energy infrastructure projects, supporting the transition toward a more sustainable energy future.
